Jessica Biel shows off one of Hollywood’s hottest ways to get an instant hair make-over: a half up, half down do. Celebrity hairstylist and InStyler developer Dean Banowetz calls it a “sexy bohemian look that’s just really fresh.” Best of all, no matter what your hair’s length, the texture-building style “looks good on virtually everyone!” Just divide around the crown, pull back, pin and let the sides cascade. I’ll admit it. When I saw the InStyler on an infomercial one night, I was skeptical. It looked like one of those kooky gadgets that was a little too good to be true. But ladies, I’m here to tell you that thing really works!
Even though I like to do my own hair at home, I’m not necessarily a genius when it comes to using hair tools. The results I get don’t look salon-like, but they’re good enough. But the InStyler just might keep my hair from looking like an obvious home job. It’s got a rotating barrel and a brush that pulls through your hair while you straighten or curl it. Warning: the tool makes a loud buzzing noise when you press it together but for some reason, that didn’t annoy me. I was actually entertained by the novelty of it—I’m weird like that.
The bottomline is that my hair looks much sleeker than when I use my regular flat iron. Our trusty interns, Sally and Kat, confirmed this and they see me everyday. Have any of you ever been pleasantly surprised by a seemingly wacky beauty tool? Read More

When I heard about the Instyler hair gadget, I decided I had to try it to see if it actually worked. This tool, which looks like a curling iron on one side and a bristle brush on the other promises to curl, wave, or straighten hair with ease. Does it deliver? Well…it can, if you know what you’re doing.
The idea behind the Instyler makes sense. The rotating barrel delivers heat while the bristles separate hair so the heat delivers evenly throughout. If you want to straighten hair, simply pull hair through the bristles and if you want to flip the ends just wrap it around the barrel! Super simple right? Curling is a little bit trickier because you have to use the same techniques as using a real curling iron, which is having to wrap the hair around the barrel. That’s always the problem I have with curling – so that didn’t go away. However, if you can master wrapping hair, then the Instyler delivers great results faster.
Another perk about the Instyler is that it delivers results using less heat than traditional styling tools. This is because the bristles separate each hair and allow the heat to be used more efficiently. Plus, you can even use this on damp hair! Perfect for people who are in a hurry. Read More
